We recently celebrated our third annual CommUnity Week, a global event that celebrates the unity of our One Newell team and highlights our commitment to our consumers and our communities, both at work and in the locations where we operate. CommUnity Week gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our values, enabling us to drive a high-performance, innovative and inclusive culture and achieve our aspiration to delight consumers by lighting up everyday moments.

This year’s theme was Creativity & Innovation, inspired by the Year of Creativity, which celebrates consumer-insights-driven innovations from Sharpie and Paper Mate. Through corporate and local programming, the week aimed to unlock the power of creativity to drive performance through engaged, inclusive and innovative teams and strengthen our community and those in which we operate.

The week’s companywide events included a “Cultivating Curiosity: Habits + Mindsets to Nurture Your Creativity” discussion with our Consumer & Shopper Insights (CSI) team, virtual wellness sessions such as Chair Yoga for Inspired Creativity and Creativity through Mindfulness with Stillness Yoga & Meditation, and exciting product giveaways from our top brands. We also launched our sixth Local Impact Grant Program (LIGP), one of the most significant ways we support the communities in which we operate and where our consumers live.

Teams supplemented the global programming with local events planned by over 90 ambassadors in 58 locations around the world. There were games and competitions, such as trivia in Seattle, WA, scavenger hunts in Brampton, Ontario and Bristol, U.K, and an Outdoors Wellbeing Challenge from our Outdoor & Recreation employees across the U.S., and artistic endeavors like mug painting in Huntersville, NC, stone decorating for our Lichfield, U.K. facility’s nature path, and weeklong “Creativity Corners” where employees could take time for creative expression in multiple locations globally. Most importantly, teams made time to give back to their local communities through food and supply drives, meal packing, cleaning up litter, contributing to community gardens, and other volunteering events.

We are thankful for our employees’ participation as we embrace creativity and aim to facilitate positive change in our communities. Watch the video below for a glimpse at the week!
