Delivering products that earn consumer trust requires rigorous safety standards, meaningful innovation grounded in consumer insight, and packaging designed with sustainability in mind. Those three responsibilities — innovation, safety, and sustainability — organize this pillar.
Sustainable Product Design
We strive to embed sustainability considerations in how Newell designs and develops products and packaging from the earliest stages of development.

Product Safety and Consumer Satisfaction
Newell Brands prioritizes consumer safety and satisfaction by upholding rigorous quality and safety standards across our portfolio. Our products are designed to combine innovation and quality with the latest research and compliance with applicable global regulations.
Product Safety Oversight
Product safety is a cross-functional responsibility. Our dedicated team oversees product safety enterprise-wide, ensuring that safety insights, regulatory developments, and technological advancements are shared across businesses and incorporated into product design. We use our Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis tool to identify potential risks in new products before they reach consumers. Products intended primarily for children – other than car seats which are regulated separately – undergo a third-party compliance testing at least once annually and periodic internal testing during the year. U.S. car seats are certified to regulatory requirements prior to market introduction and then annual conformity to production testing by both third-party labs and our internal lab. Graco and U.S. baby products, including car seats, are also certified through the Baby Safety Alliances’ certification program.
At the beginning of 2025, Newell introduced updated policies for the Product Safety team and our recall procedure. The updates were designed to make the process more efficient and to better reflect the current organization.
Addressing Chemical Substances and Practices of Concern
Our products are intended to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the markets where they are sold, including those relating to chemical substances. Newell assesses chemical risks and hazards through chemical testing and through the use of restricted substance lists. When products are purchased as finished goods or raw materials are purchased for products manufactured by Newell, suppliers receive a comprehensive list of chemicals the use of which is restricted or prohibited in our products.
Each of Newell's business segments creates and maintains its own restricted substance list, with chemicals added by monitoring scientific research and emerging regulations. These lists are supplemented by published chemical watchlists of relevant industry associations and incorporate applicable international, federal, state, and local laws. We continuously monitor safety and chemical legislation and the latest applicable research and studies.
